History of Moody Torrey-Gray Auditorium
The Moody Torrey-Gray Auditorium is named after named after two early Moody presidents, James Gray and R. A. Torrey, which seats more than 1,800 people and is where students attend chapel according to Moody's website (Visit Moody). It also houses their 4-manual (Reuter)organ with 4,400 pipes in 54 ranks was added according to article on Wikipedia (Link).
Audio Upgrades & Challenge
In need of a PA and audio upgrade at the Moody Torrey-Gray Auditorium, Moody Bible Institute reached out to Advanced Audio to help. The trick was designing a hanging PA with Subwoofers in the upper area, which can be seen on one of the images above showing a custom rigging solution for both the PA and Subwoofers and still be able to lower the PA for maintenance and repair. You can Graeme and Don working on configuring and wiring in the system in the images above.
The DSP audio system is a BIAMP Audia Flex with a Lab.Gruppen amplifier located in the rack as well. Above you'll see Trent and Don configuring the Allen and Heath mixer with the new upgrades and adding the Audia Flex programing to the DSP.
We were excited, and proud to assist Moody Bible Institute on this project, and to work in such a historic building on campus. If have the opportunity the all-brick building and stunning auditorium is worth seeing.
